Maryland Paycheck Calculator 2026
The Maryland Paycheck Calculator helps employees estimate their take-home pay after federal income tax, Maryland state income tax, local county or Baltimore City income tax, Social Security, Medicare and other paycheck deductions.
Maryland is different from many states because employees can be subject to both a state individual income tax and a local income tax based on where they live.
For that reason, this calculator includes a Maryland county and Baltimore City selector rather than applying one statewide local rate to every employee.
How the Maryland Paycheck Calculator Works
Enter your annual salary or hourly wage, select your pay frequency, choose your filing status and select your Maryland county or Baltimore City.
The calculator estimates federal income tax, Maryland state income tax and the applicable local income tax. It also estimates Social Security and Medicare taxes.
You can enter pre-tax deductions, post-tax deductions and additional federal withholding to make the estimate more useful for personal planning.
Maryland Income Tax Rates for 2026
Maryland’s 2026 individual income tax schedule contains multiple brackets. The state rates begin at 2% for the lowest taxable-income layer and rise through 3%, 4%, 4.75%, 5%, 5.25%, 5.5%, 5.75%, 6.25% and 6.5%.
For single filers and married taxpayers filing separately, the 2026 state brackets reach 6.25% above $500,000 and 6.5% above $1,000,000.
For married filing jointly, heads of household and qualifying surviving spouses, the 6.25% bracket begins above $600,000 and the 6.5% bracket begins above $1,200,000.
Maryland Local Income Tax
Maryland is unusual because counties and Baltimore City also impose local income taxes. The local tax is calculated separately from the Maryland state income tax.
For 2026, the official Maryland withholding information lists local rates ranging from 2.25% to 3.30%, with special graduated local-rate schedules for Anne Arundel and Frederick counties.
This means two employees earning exactly the same salary can have different Maryland take-home pay if they live in different counties.

Why Your Maryland Paycheck Depends on Your County
Maryland’s local income tax system means your location matters when estimating take-home pay.
For example, the official 2026 schedule lists Worcester County at 2.25%, Garrett County at 2.65%, Montgomery County at 3.20% and Dorchester and Kent counties at 3.30%.
Anne Arundel and Frederick counties use special graduated local-rate schedules rather than one simple rate for every taxpayer.
Weekly vs. Biweekly Pay in Maryland
Weekly employees generally receive 52 paychecks per year. Biweekly employees generally receive 26 paychecks. Semi-monthly employees generally receive 24, while monthly employees generally receive 12.
Changing your pay frequency does not change your annual salary. It changes how your annual earnings are divided among individual paychecks.
Hourly Pay and Overtime
Hourly workers can enter their hourly wage, regular hours and overtime hours to estimate annual gross income.
Actual overtime compensation can vary according to applicable employment laws, employee classification and employer payroll practices.
Why Your Actual Maryland Paycheck May Be Different
An online paycheck calculator is an estimate. Your actual paycheck can differ because Maryland withholding depends on information supplied to your employer.
