Arizona Paycheck Calculator 2026
The Arizona Paycheck Calculator helps employees estimate their take-home pay after federal income tax, Arizona income tax, Social Security, Medicare and other paycheck deductions.
Arizona is different from states with graduated individual income-tax brackets. Arizona uses a flat 2.5% individual income-tax rate for tax years 2023 and later.
How to Calculate Your Arizona Paycheck
Start by entering your annual salary or hourly wage. Select your pay frequency and filing status. If you are paid hourly, you can also enter regular hours and overtime.
The calculator estimates federal income tax and federal payroll taxes. It then estimates Arizona withholding based on the Arizona withholding percentage selected on Form A-4.
Arizona Individual Income Tax Rate
Arizona has a flat individual income-tax rate of 2.5%. The Arizona Department of Revenue states that the 2.5% rate applies to Arizona taxable income for tax years 2023 and later.
This is the state’s income-tax rate, but it is important not to confuse it with the percentage selected for paycheck withholding.
Arizona Paycheck Withholding Percentage
Arizona employees subject to income-tax withholding complete Arizona Form A-4 to elect a withholding percentage.
The available percentages include 0.5%, 1.0%, 1.5%, 2.0%, 2.5%, 3.0% and 3.5%.
The Arizona Department of Revenue states that these percentages are applied to gross taxable wages. Employees who expect no Arizona income-tax liability may claim an exemption and elect zero withholding.
If an employee does not provide an Arizona Form A-4, the employer generally withholds at 2.0%.
Why Arizona Withholding Is Not Always 2.5%
A common mistake when building an Arizona paycheck calculator is to take the state’s 2.5% income-tax rate and automatically subtract 2.5% from every paycheck.
That is not the correct way to represent Arizona paycheck withholding. Arizona allows employees to select their withholding percentage using Form A-4.
For this reason, this calculator lets the user choose the Arizona withholding percentage rather than assuming that everyone has exactly 2.5% withheld.
Federal Income Tax for Arizona Employees
Arizona employees are also subject to federal income tax. Federal tax is separate from Arizona’s 2.5% state income-tax rate.
For 2026, the federal standard deduction is $16,100 for single taxpayers and married individuals filing separately, $24,150 for heads of household and $32,200 for married couples filing jointly.
Federal income tax is progressive, with 2026 rates ranging from 10% through 37%.
Social Security Tax in Arizona
Social Security is a federal payroll tax and applies to qualifying Arizona wages.
For 2026, the employee Social Security rate is 6.2% and the Social Security wage base is $184,500.
Medicare Tax in Arizona
The employee Medicare tax rate is 1.45%. Unlike Social Security, Medicare has no wage base limit.
Employers must also withhold an additional 0.9% Medicare tax from wages paid to an employee above $200,000 during the calendar year.

Weekly vs. Biweekly Pay in Arizona
Weekly employees generally receive 52 paychecks per year. Biweekly employees generally receive 26 paychecks. Semi-monthly employees generally receive 24 paychecks, while monthly employees generally receive 12.
Changing your pay frequency changes the size of each individual paycheck but normally does not change your annual salary.
Hourly Pay and Overtime in Arizona
Hourly employees can enter their hourly rate and regular weekly hours. The calculator also allows overtime hours and an overtime multiplier.
Actual overtime eligibility and overtime compensation can depend on federal law, Arizona law, employment classification and the employer’s policies.
Pre-Tax and Post-Tax Deductions
Employees may have deductions for health insurance, retirement contributions, flexible spending accounts and other benefits.
The tax treatment of a deduction depends on the particular benefit and payroll arrangement. The calculator therefore allows users to enter pre-tax and post-tax deductions separately.
Why Your Actual Arizona Paycheck May Be Different
An online calculator provides an estimate. Your employer’s payroll system uses your actual Form W-4, Arizona Form A-4, payroll period, benefits, deductions and other compensation information.
Your actual paycheck may therefore be different from the estimate shown here.
